Grease and liquid alkali are the most important materials for making soap. The fatty acids provided by grease react with the liquid alkali to produce soap. Oils and fats can be obtained from animals and plants. Mix alkali solution with liquid oil together, stir evenly, react to form solid soap and liquid glycerin. This process is saponification reaction, which is the core of soap production. Then after salting out, washing, alkali precipitation and other processes, the glycerol is recovered and soap base is obtained finally.
