Mica Sheet

Appolo International

Product Description

  • Mica Sheets are made by combining muscovite (M) or phlogopite (P) Mica paper with a binder under specific heat and pressure. Mica sheet provides excellent heat resistance, moisture resistance and electrical properties. It does not emit smoke or odor.

There are different types of Mica sheets available to suit and meet different usages:

    Rigid Mica Sheets:

Rigid Mica sheets are made by combining uncalcined muscovite or phlogopite mica paper with an inorganic silicone-resin binder under specific heat and pressure. It has excellent rigidity, heat resistance, and dielectric properties. It is completely asbestos-free and highly chemical-resistant insulation having low thermal conductivity. It does not emit smoke or odor upon heating up. Since the binder plays a critical role in the overall product performance, the best commercially-available resin, with as much as 82% solid silicone content, is imported from Germany for excellent results.

    Flexible Mica Sheets

Flexible Mica Sheets are made by combining muscovite (M) or phlogopite (P) Mica paper with a silicone resin binder (inorganic) under specific heat and pressure. It has excellent flexibility, heat resistance, moisture resistance, and electrical properties. It does not emit smoke or odor. Muscovite mica paper-based material can be sued at temperatures up to 600 oC while phlogopite Mica paper-based material at temperatures up to 800 oC depending on the application.

     Epoxy Bonded Fibre Glass Sheets

Epoxy Bonded Fibre Glass Sheets are precisely fabricated by combining glass cloth with an epoxy resin as a binder ensuring curing under specific heat and pressure. They are greatly appreciated for their excellent rigidity, resistance to heat & moisture, and dielectric properties. Epoxy Bonded Fibre Glass Sheets are used for slot packing insulation in HT motors, high-temperature washers in lifting magnets, and many more.

It has excellent rigidity, heat resistance, moisture resistance, and dielectric properties. It is completely asbestos-free and highly chemical-resistant insulation having low thermal conductivity. It does not emit smoke or odor upon heating up. Epoxy-based composites can withstand temperatures up to 250-300 oC, whereas silicone-bonded composites can withstand temperatures up to 350-450 C.

    Molding Micanite Sheets

Molding Micanite Sheets is a lamination made up of two layers of fine muscovite mica spitting with glass cloth. They are bonded together using a B-stage epoxy resin. Molding Micanite Sheets facilitate end-winding on high voltage machines. They provide excellent corona-resistant insulation and are capable of withstanding high voltage partial discharge when fully cured to form rigid laminates.

Molding Micanite sheet is available in two different variants based on the binding agent.  Alkyd resin-bound sheets stay flexible at room temperature and are cured completely at 180oC.  Shellac resin-bonded sheets stay rigid at room temperature and have to be preheated to gain flexibility before curing it completely at 150 CC to form rigid and robust insulation.
