In Nigeria, peppers are a common element in many dishes. Mostly every Nigerian dish is prepared with a spoonful or handful of pepper to provide heat and spice. The active chemical constituent is capsaicin and others collectively called capsaicinoids. These are known for helping relieve heat fatigue in a hot climates and stimulating digestive process. Hot chilli pepper has been used for both culinary and therapeutic purposes.
