Full latin name: Phyllostachys heterocycla var. pubescens, usually called moso bamboo. Cold-hardy to -17 centigrade.
Runner, culm 10-20m tall, 6-20cm diameter; internode reaching 40cm long; culm wall around 10mm thick; leaf 4-11cm long, 0.5-1.2cm wide.
Moso bamboo is the mostly distributed, cultivated and processed economic bamboo in China, for both poles and shoots. It takes up 70% of bamboo plantation in China. Moso poles are used as construction material and weaving material. Shoots are delicious both fresh and processed. Moso groove can be used to cultivate bamboo mushroom.
Moso bamboo seeds at stock now was havested in October 2011, viable for 1 year at storage of 1-6 centigrade. There are 27000-36000 seeds per kg.
