FRP grating and decking are popular in different projects. FRP gratings and floorings are produced by using fiberglass as reinforcement material and unsaturated polyester resin as matrix. Generally, they are fabricated in an open, heated mold system to form into one-piece structure with grids. Compared with steel grating and panel, fiberglass reinforced plastic grating and panel perform much better with incomparable features as shown below:
1. Superb corrosion resistance - FRP grating and decking are extremely resistant to a wide range of chemicals. FRP is highly recommended when corrosion resistance is highly required.
2. Light weight - FRP grating and decking are light weighted, they are only about 1/4 the weight of steel material, and 2/3 of aluminum material. Thus, the weight of supporting structure is sharply reduced. Meanwhile, no hoisting equipment is needed during installation.
3. High strength - Higher tensile strength and better impact resistance.
4. Excellent load capacity - One piece structure allows loads to be distributed evenly to improve its bearing capacity.
5. Dimensional stability - Low expansion & contraction rate, about 24% to 50% less than that of traditional metal material grating and flooring, that is to say the dimension of FRP products are much more stable.
6. Slip resistance - FRP gratings and floor panels can be made gritted or with pattern design so that they are anti-skidding.
8. High safety - FRP materials have excellent fire resistance, electrical insultation ability. So they are mostly applied to inflammable & explosive place and electronics industry.
9. Long service life - Owing to its high durability, excellent corrosion resistance and UV-proof features, molded FRP gratings & floorings offer a quite long service time.
10. Easy to clean - Square holes allow all debris to fall through, and smooth surface allows FRP products easy to be cleaned.
