Function:
(1) Choline is especially important to fowls.
The amino acids and the lecithinum, composed of choline, are transferred to the tissues of fowls to
prevent fat from accumulating on liver and kidney, and to speed up fowl's growth and hatchability and laying rate.
Choline cannot be synthesized in the bodies of young animals in which the choline needed is gained completely from the feed. Therefore, choline must be added to the feed for young animals.
(2) Experiments show that lack of choline affects the growth of a grass carp greatly in the way of
lowering the content of phospholipid, cholesterol, triglyceride and blood fat in the body of a grass carp.
(3) Lack of choline in feed for domestic animals such as marten, pig, rabbit, cattle, etc. will cause their mal-Developed with soft bones, rough fur, low growth rate and high morbidity.
Choline chloride, therefore, must be added to the feed for domestic animals to ensure their sound growth.
