    In order to sterilize water, 1 ppm of chlorine is put into water. As a result of this, there should be certain amount of chlorine among water.

     

    This melted chlorine in the city water is called “Residual chlorine”, ;  it makes the unique smell and bad taste of city water. Residual chlorine is composed of hypochlorous  which is kind of free available residual chlorine and chloramine which is combined residual chlorine.

     

    When calcium sulfite contacts with residual chlorine, it immediately breaks down residual chlorine to chloride which is not harmful to human body.

     

    When chrolic acid which is a kind of residual chroline and calcium sulfite react, calcium sulfite takes oxygen and changes to calcium sulfate
