Areca nut is a type of monocotyledonous plant belonging to palms. Areca nut belongs to the Arecaceae family in the Arecales order. This tree is one of the plants with high economic value and potential. Plants that have straight and slender stems have many benefits and are commonly known as medicinal plants. The use of betel nut in addition to export to China and several South Asian countries, in some areas of Sumatra and Kalimantan is used for ceremonial events such as betel nut concoction for traditional ceremonies. Current science and technology has changed the pattern of using betel nut for pharmaceutical and industrial purposes, while India and China are currently processing areca nut into candy.
