  Alpaca Description

  Huacayo Alpaca.

  The Huacayo alpaca is the most numerous in Peru (93% of the population), has a short, curly, dense and fluffy fiber that covers almost all of its body leaving only its face and legs covered with short hair.

  Classification Process:

  The classification is the first and main task that develops in the transformation of fiber, depends on this work the quality of the product to be exported. The work of the selector requires a great skill since it is necessary to appreciate the fineness of the dirty fiber. Among the main factors taken into account for the classification of the fiber: the fineness of the wick, the length, the color and the breed of the animal. As for the length, it depends on the textile process to which it is going to be subjected. The combed system requires long fibers of adequate strength, since it will undergo stretching and tensions during the process. The carding system can accept short fibers, not very long or resistant. The colors for classification purposes have been divided into: combination colors of fibers and colors of mixture of wicks. They go from white to black, going through cream and coffee. The colors of fiber combination formed by different shades of gray.

  Washing Process:

  The washing seeks to eliminate all traces of dust, dirt and grease from the fiber. In the washing machine, the material to be washed goes in successively to the five washing tubs or boats. The first tub is soaking: 0.5% sodium carbonate and 0.4% nonionic detergent. The next two boats are washing, 0.2% non-ionic detergent and 0.5% sodium carbonate while the next washing boat It has a single 0.2% non-ionic detergent. Each boat has a different water temperature, which ranges between 55 - 65 ° C and contains a juicer, composed of two pressure rollers, which removes dirt and grease from the fibers. The last two are rinsing with pure water. At the exit of the last boat it no longer contains practically fat or earthy matter

  Dyeing Process:

  At the beginning of this stage, the yarns enter the dyeing autoclaves. Previously, it is necessary to prepare the dye solution, in which other chemicals are added such as the equalizers and dispersants for a correct dyeing and color fixation. Subsequently, the material carrier is loaded with the skeins, introduced into the autoclave and then placed in the centrifuge.
